Step Into Another World!

At Villain Baroque’s exhibit on The Rock that remembers a world of romantic beaches and rolling crests – you find yourself transported immediately once you step through the door! Filled with sounds of swooping seagulls and the lullaby of crashing waves, you can’t help but be whisked away. The exhibit, called “Love Me Tender – Romantic Beach Freebies” describes it quite perfectly!

Inside is something truly amazing! You can send a message to any one of your Second Life Friends in the form of a Greeting card from Dallier’s Hope! No matter where in the big’ol universe they are, they will get your special card in mere seconds! They specialty cards the have can be to a friend or to a loved one and feature beautiful artwork of our beloved home! Drop in, send a message to someone you know and ask them why they aren’t there with the rest of us! A Side note! Keep an eye on the roof, it changes often with some celebratory things!

Here’s some top tips to make your stay at SL6B as much fun as possible.

1. Set your lighting to region default – we are in the dark here – there’s an awful lot of glow if you have your lighting set to anything else but midnight. Hey cut us some slack, we are in space!

2. Try to wear low lag outfits. It’s tough to look svelte in a busy sim, so do yourself and everyone else a favour and try to keep your arc down as low as possible. I have managed to look rather fetching (if I say so for a blue chick) on an arc of 559 – it’s possible to keep in the theme and have fun with it and not feel like you are walking in almost set concrete

3. Wear sensible shoes. The terrain here varies, and frankly heels aren’t going to cut it.

4. Start in the north sims and work your way down – the sims are all pretty busy, but if you want to see every exhibit, start at the top of the grid and work your way down, you will be travelling in the reverse direction of the crowds, and it will be much easier.

5. Stop and talk to people! The community feeling here at The Rock is fantastic, stop and talk, make some new friends, and while you are stood talking, your world will rez that much easier.

6. Grab some freebies. The aliens at The Paradox are simply amazing, catch one today – you may never look at a freebie hunt the same way.

7. Take a tram. it helps to rez the sims for you, you can get off at any point, and you never know who may jump in with you!

8. Have sounds enabled on your computer. There are some amazing ambient sounds been created for the exhibitor builds, and the infrastructure – this is a visual and aural delight!

9. Catch some DJ’s or a live performance. We have DJ, and musicians from all around the globe, with something going on 24/7

A Viewing Pod

Machinima Podism is a pod circle featuring a selection of machinima films from the following artists – Chantal Harvey, Dizzy Banjo, Toxic Menges, Rob Danton, Michael Verdi and Mescaline Tammas. Machinima podism is part of an infrastucture build here at SL6B which was created by Mantis Oh. Mantis helped us with a lot of seeding builds here at the event, to create am immersive backdrop to our event – a big thank you goes out to him!  To see each film take a seat inside a pod by sitting in it and set you r media stream to play. Each pod will pay a different film.

A question asked by the artist AM Radio, he goes on to say ”Welcome to AM Radio’s One Thousand Heroes! Second Life is a world where anyone can become a super hero! A superhero car? “How can I save the future?” you ask. Drive the car to find out! This car is fast and you’ll want practice, and when you’re ready, you to will know how to be a super hero!

AM’s goal is to make 1000 such heroes at the SL6B event – so if  you feel so inclined please come along and help him. There is more information to be had about this car and what to do with it but I am not going to post that hear – now why reveal it all? No, no, no …. Come see for yourself if it peaks your interest! The fun is discovering for yourself is it not?

The Culprits!

Hope you’ve got good flight controls, CyberTroopers! You’ve been called into active duty to reclaim our gifts from those rotten little rodent Aliens in The Paradox! They’re flying around cackling and shouting obscenities at anyone they see and we need our Birthday Gifts Back!

HOW IT WORKS:

• Each Alien is carrying a Library of Loot items; Some common, some rare!
• After a prize is claimed, the Alien retreats for 10 minutes to get more gifts from his stash!
• The Aliens give back the gifts randomly from their stash! Two people won’t get the same gift in a short period.
• One Alien is carrying a special GUS Security Bot for your very own – complete with commands!
• The Quest for the Birthday Presents ends June 29th @ 11:59pm when the mothership returns to collect the twerps!
• All Aliens fly – And fast! They have propulsion technology! Jetpacks! Keep up if you can!
• Once you teleport into The Paradox, make your way to the ground!  They’re not THAT high up!
• Prizes were donated from Second Life residents! THANK YOU!

The V-TV Crew

We live on the cusp of interoperability. An ability that will one day be the standard of all virtual worlds. We will port from place to place, from experience to experience; Yes, Fashionistas, even from store to store. 3D worlds will replace web pages, which will have become as obsolete as an 8 track player. You will move through the net as a traveler through space… not surfing via your web browser. We are seeing threads of this today, and an Exhibit called V-TV by Misprint Thursday (Love that name!) Oberon Onmura and Cinco Pizzacato explores that possibility in a simple concept.

The Data Room

You are dropped into a black box that is filed with bits of floating data- seems simple enough. There is a box in the center that, once clicked, tells you that it has it’s own email address. Flipping to your browser you can send it an email and the text of that email appears above the box in Second Life. When I arrived, someone had submitted a lovely poem! It is one world talking to another. It is a beautiful example of the very beginning of this futuristic concept.

Reading in an alien garden is a calm oasis, and if you need to have a  few minutes peace away from  the hustle and bustle, and I strongly urge you to go visit one of the most immersive and beautiful plots in the whole of SL6B. I am a sucker for a garden, and I am a sucker for a good story. I am not going to tell you what to expect when you get here, because discovery is almost all the fun, wouldn’t you agree?

A bio dome encased wheat and poppy field, with art donated by Bryn Oh, Mantis Oh and Cube Republic. The Last Rain Maker cloud falls from the sky which hangs above the asteroid surface in the semi sphere twilight, generated by a Scope Cleaver build … an avatar oasis of the future, built by and for the community – we be the collective. This has been projected to your minds eye as a parallel illusion. Blink.
