V-TV is Virtually Chatty!

The V-TV Crew

The V-TV Crew

We live on the cusp of interoperability. An ability that will one day be the standard of all virtual worlds. We will port from place to place, from experience to experience; Yes, Fashionistas, even from store to store. 3D worlds will replace web pages, which will have become as obsolete as an 8 track player. You will move through the net as a traveler through space… not surfing via your web browser. We are seeing threads of this today, and an Exhibit called V-TV by Misprint Thursday (Love that name!) Oberon Onmura and Cinco Pizzacato explores that possibility in a simple concept.

The Data Room

The Data Room

You are dropped into a black box that is filed with bits of floating data- seems simple enough. There is a box in the center that, once clicked, tells you that it has it’s own email address. Flipping to your browser you can send it an email and the text of that email appears above the box in Second Life. When I arrived, someone had submitted a lovely poem! It is one world talking to another. It is a beautiful example of the very beginning of this futuristic concept.

The Last RainMaker

The Last RainMaker

The Last Rain Maker: This Arid land of darkness – leaves us to see

The Last Rain Maker: the very last rainmaker to remind us of what used to be
The Last Rain Maker: machine made illusions is all we now have – a distant memory of dream time confusion
The Last Rain Maker: this be the last rain maker

A bio dome encased wheat and poppy field, with art donated by Bryn Oh, Mantis Oh and Cube Republic. The Last Rain Maker cloud falls from the sky which hangs above the asteroid surface in the semi sphere twilight, generated by a Scope Cleaver build … an avatar oasis of the future, built by and for the community – we be the collective. This has been projected to your minds eye as a parallel illusion. Blink.

Power supplyspace tech

Stardate: 00019.53000 Zenroid Log
Location: Below the cloning station situated on a ground level area is the power station named The Paradox. I made the following observation; green amoebic cells running ground up through the pipes surrounding the power hub – these organic cells are the core power to the colony, they are able to conduct and retain electrons which are then converted into bio friendly fuel. The cells are naturally occurring deep within this asteroid and were discovered by Dr. Audrey Camembert who was part of Dalliers early landing team. She saw a green oozing glow seeping from the ground and after some testing the unique properties were first discovered then later enhanced to become the fuel. This glowing property was also used as a light source on the roads here on the rock. The one down side is it smells rather like burnt toast – which really is a minimal downside to this most amazing energy source.

Be aware this area is not terribly suited to stilettos.

But… What Does It Mean?

Dallier's Hope Flag

It’s been tossed around in various chat groups for the great Birthday extravaganza… speculated about… contemplated… and still, some don’t really even give a flying saucer! The Dallier’s Hope history is a ripe one indeed; So many only imagine what must have happened between the “then” and “now” that brought us here to where we are today. And those that were here then most certainly never anticipated what it would become… Much the same can be said of Second Life!

If you’ve been a Dallier’s Hope info junky (You know who you are, those of you who’ve found all the info signs giving back-story on installations and regions, wanted more on spacial location and indigenous species!!) or happened to trip across even a small portion of it, you know our glorious home was founded by visionary space adventurer Ghorman Dallier who planted the first flag in the dried soils of The Paradox!

But why was it hopeful? Was Earth in Peril? Is Dallier’s Hope in fact one Big virtual world of the future as has been suggested? Are we all living virtual lives, having downloaded ourselves into a simulated space environment while our physical selves remain in stasis elsewhere? Is Dallier’s Hope just one planet in an endless universe of Virtual Worlds then, and maybe while we’re the new generation space Colony, 300 light years to our North is a world of cotton candy clouds and peanut butter and chocolate waterfalls… maybe the world is what we make it, after all. Maybe it *can* be anything we want.

Maybe that is what Ghorman Dallier though so many, many years ago. Yes, it seems like it must have possibly run in the family.

Maybe you will figure out the History of our Ghorman Dallier… perhaps those who’ve asked may just need to look a bit closer. After all, we are on T Minus 6 days from… well, I think it’s best you decide. 😉

Baker, Baker, Bake Me A Cake!

Vivianne O'Flynn

Vivianne O'Flynn

Meet Vivianne O’Flynn, the Official Baker of the SL6B birthday cake! Vivianne is a Second Life veteran born 9/13/2003, which makes her almost as old as Second Life itself! As the owner of the Second Life delicacy shop, Divivity, her prime work in SL has long been creating virtual delights for the taste buds! So, last year when she inquired about participating in the future, there was no doubt who to call when the time came for a chef!

SL6B Birthday Cake

SL6B Birthday Cake

The Cake region is more than just a big Cake! Vivianne and her building partner Div Epoch have gone to great lengths to make it a party unto itself! It’s a space full of little treasures, lots of goodies and small surprises in every nook and cranny. Content creators in Second Life have contributed to a futuristic loot bag where you can get some fun, festive and humorous things!

You might even find Vivianne there herself as she greets visitors and answers questions about the birthday cake which was inspired by the concept of a Rocket Ship surrounded by lush lights that illuminate the path beneath your feet with each step. It’s one of the Points Of Interests you won’t want to miss on your visit to Dallier’s Hope!
